She began her career behind the scenes in Providence as an Assignment Editor and Associate Producer at WJAR-TV before getting her break on the air in Georgia.

She is a 2017 graduate of Emerson College in Boston, Massachusetts where she earned a Bachelors Degree in Broadcast Journalism.

Before heading to Georgia, Shaynah was an Associate Producer and Assignment Editor for NBC 10 WJAR-TV in Providence, Rhode Island. Prior to this position, she was an intern for the station for the summer of 2016.

During her 4 years at Emerson, she served as a general assignment reporter and anchor for WEBN-Boston and Noticiero WEBN, covering breaking news events, politics in the greater Boston area. She practiced this first hand on her 2016 trip to the communist island of Cuba. It was there that Shaynah served as Co-Executive Producer of "Afro Cuba Libre"; a mini documentary on race relations in Cuba.
